My Back Story
Skilled Administrative Support Professional over 10 Years' Experience
In the beginning, my administrative assistance path led me to be the executive assistant of 3 hedge fund partners of a large financial firm in midtown of NYC when I was in my 20s. After a couple of years, I decided to change my career path to paramedicine where I spent 18 years of my life aiding the sick and wounded with FDNY.
During my time working in an ambulance, I would handle the back of the office work for my husband's business in optical care. For him, I created workflows and file management systems, developed social media content, created ads for magazines, revamped his logo & marketing deliverables like letterhead, business cards, and brochures. He often said that I missed my calling.
After succumbing to a major back injury during an EMS call, I required a 7 hour surgery to repair my spine. This resulted in me having to hang up my stethoscope permanently. Becoming a Stay-At-Home-Mom went against the grain of my character and I immediately started researching on careers that can give me work flexibility so I can still be present in my son's development. Reflecting on my husband's statement, "You missed your calling", I was motivated to start a new career path by becoming a virtual assistant.
As a self starter, I independently learned how to effectively start my own business and procured my first client within 2 weeks of my launch. I eagerly took courses in digital marketing, productivity, and fell down rabbit holes learning about different software applications. To this day, I continue to take courses to better serve my clients.
One of my business goals is to solely work with people who are open minded, easy going, and are confident to speak their mind. If I find any of these attributes lacking, I will end the work relationship. That is why I set my work contract to be month per month.
